Hi, I’m Patrice Lachelle!
Author. Dreamer. Storyteller. Purpose-driven.
I’m a children’s book author and educator with a bachelor’s degree in Biology and a master’s degree in Elementary Education. I write warm, imaginative stories that invite young readers to be curious, kind, and wonderfully themselves. When I’m not teaching or writing, I enjoy reading, journaling and writing personal letters to God, building LEGO sets, playing The Sims, wearing fuzzy socks, and enjoying good food! ✨

Why I Write
I believe some of the smallest moments can teach us the biggest lessons. Through the Penny Sparks adventures, I create fun and meaningful stories filled with friendship, courage, curiosity, and lessons young readers can carry with them.
Penny is also very personal to me. In many ways, she is the little girl I wish I had been at seven years old. She is curious, confident, adventurous, and unafraid to be herself. Through Penny, I get to create the kind of stories I would have loved to read as a little girl. My hope is that when children meet Penny, they see a little spark in themselves too and are reminded to keep reading, growing, dreaming, believing, and shining bright.
